Utilizing the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches for Chinese Medicine Diagnosis and Treatment (4 CEU's Approved)

$125.00

Observing the flow of the universe is a key tenet of ancient Chinese medicine. Practitioners of the ancient Chinese wisdom traditions recognize the fluctuations of the universe and cultivate qi based on the changes during the day, the cycles of the moon, the seasons and the 12-year cycle. Their self-cultivation practices follow these rhythms to harmonize with the universal qi and optimize their ability to increase shenming (spiritual brightness). They base treatments on the universal changes to increase ling (magic of the universe).
Modern-day practitioners can apply this ancient Chinese wisdom to create harmony with the universe and establish a healthy internal environment. CT Holman explains how to use the heavenly stems and earthly branches in the modern Chinese medicine clinic. He describes how to apply the knowledge of the stems and branches he learned from Master Zhongxian Wu to diagnose illness, gain insight into disease patterns and create acupuncture point prescriptions.
This ancient wisdom unlocks the hidden power available to make optimum decisions for lifestyle activities and for practitioners designing treatment regimens.

Testimonial:

‘This course has fundamentally changed my practice. I am basing my treatments around using the channels and energies that are seasonally most active and have begun to incorporate the five element beats with my hand drum into treatments….Thank you CT for anchoring me into the now by applying treatments that resonate with the seasons. This is excellent information.’ Ben B.

Additional course information: In the body, as the energy shifts with each cycle, so does the amount of energy in organs and channels. Therefore, treatment strategies must be designed based on these fluctuations. The heavenly stems and earthly branches provide a means by which to differentiate the physiological changes in the body.

Historically, stems and branches played a significant role in medicine. In the Warring States period, healers were required to have knowledge of the stems and branches and were to apply it to the treatment of the network of channels in the body. In the Huangdi Neijing (Inner Cannon of the Yellow Emperor), the cosmological cycles are used to treat diseases based on the rhythms of nature. The application of this information allowed physicians to diagnose, prognose and treat illness at a deeper level. Sun Si Miao, “the king of medicine,” based his treatments on the cosmological cycles. In the Han Dynasty (206 BCE – 220 CE) stems and branches were not only used in medicine but served as a main part of technical literature.
